Scholarships

On one of his visits to the orphanage our sponsor met a lady called Delia who was volunteering with the nuns, teaching English to the orphans 2-3 times a week.

She was kindly spending her spare time away from her teaching role at a local college, helping the children to improve their language skills. They immediately struck up a friendship and made plans to help educate the children at the orphanage and provide them with a better education for the future.

During this teaching time at the orphanage it became clear that one particular young girl showed great promise in her studies with her willingness and ability to learn.

Following on from some private tuition and many discussions with our sponsor regarding this young girls bright future, it was decided that she would benefit vastly from a full time education.

After many months of planning and arranging she now is educated full time at a prestigious school in the main city and boards with Delia at her home thanks to the scholarship provided by the Catriona MacDonald Foundation.

In the future we hope to identify and place more children who show such ability into our scholarship programme.
