Foundation History

The Catriona MacDonald Foundation is founded on the values of commitment to family and community.

Catriona MacDonald

Catriona MacDonald was born in a small village on the Isle of Lewis just off the West Coast of Scotland. Catriona beag (meaning small Catriona) as she was affectionately called, was a devout Christian and Church goer.

Commitment to family and community

A hard working daughter of The Croft (a small Scottish farm) she raised her family, cared for her fisherman husband, father and brothers and tended to her cows, her sheep, hens and her beloved dogs. She let a simple, humble yet very happy life.

She was active in the local community and dearly loved children from every race and religion.

A safe harbour and a new start for children

We as Directors and Caretakers of this charity have decided to name the charity after Catriona and the small harbour village she was born in: Hence, Catriona MacDonald Foundation.
