Clean water for all

When you get clean water for the first time, it’s the start of something truly life-changing.

Bottled water is very expensive to buy and the children had become very ill due to the water sanitation problem.

Thanks to kind donations, we purchased a Distillation Plant for the Orphanage. Many of the children had become very ill and it was discovered that the water was extremely contaminated. So, we decided immediately to get a water distillation plant fitted and it cost us a lot of money.

The Distillation Plant drained our funds as it cost $10,000 USD. However, we are grateful as we found out the source of the problem very soon after some of the children became ill and we did not lose any of the children – however we might have lost some as typhoid is a major issue locally. All water comes from a tributary of the Amazon which flows all the way around the North side of South America and finally enters the sea in Brazil.

The river in places is very clean but near some cities and towns, it is very dirty as people use it for their washings and for their bodily wastes etc. Bottled water here is extremely expensive and naturally this put a big strain on the finances of the Nuns, so we had to act very fast getting this fitted.
