OUR STORY
Committed to improving young lives
At Christmas time, December 2012, the Founder of this foundation was invited by his friend and client to visit an orphanage near a small town in the South American Rainforest. At the orphanage he witnessed first-hand the incredible work of five Christian Nuns.
The Nuns are dedicated to running a small orphanage for one-hundred homeless, abandoned children. The Nuns explained that on their small site, of approximately five acres, they not only house the children but also educate, provide sleeping accommodation, and feed them.
Also on the site is a beautiful Church, reminiscent of the small churches found in little villages on the islands off the West Coast of Scotland. The Nun’s spoke of their desperate struggle to find the money to pay for food to feed one-hundred little mouths three times a day.
In February 2013, the same founder again visited the orphanage and was distressed to find that the flock of one hundred children had been reduced to sixty; this was because the funds available were simply not sufficient to support all one hundred children.
The atmosphere at the orphanage was very sad and the Nuns were clearly distressed and concerned regarding the other forty children who were no longer sheltered and protected at the orphanage.
On that day, the Founder made a commitment to help somehow. The decision was made to register a charitable foundation to raise funds for the Nuns and rebuild the flock back to one-hundred children.

Our mission and vision
Mission
The Catriona MacDonald Foundation aims to tackle the problem and issues facing homeless and abandoned young children. We aim to support children during the most vulnerable periods of their lives and help give them the strength and confidence to create and enjoy a fulfilled life.
Vision
Be able to rebuild the flock and bring it back to at least one-hundred and be able to feed and shelter them all and perhaps to even expand so that other poor orphaned or abandoned children can also be helped. We understand this will take time, money and effort but we have no doubt it can and will be done.
